The amazing thing about practicing yoga is that no matter how old you are, as long as you have the heart, you will still be able to do it. So what’s so special about this lady? Well, at 93 years old, she’s not just practicing yoga, but she is still sharing her knowledge with her students.

Tao Porchon-Lynch is her name and at 93 years old, she has entered the Guinness World Records by being the world’s oldest yoga teacher. She first started out yoga when she was only eight years old. Now, she teaches yoga four times a week in Hartsdale, New York. perhaps to some, this may be beyond belief, but Tao has overcame greater challenges in her life. When she was 87 years old, she had to go through a hip surgery. However, that didn’t stop her from leading her life. Just a month later, she took to the dance floor, starting lessons. “I believe that we can always reach just a little bit further,” said Tao. “I’m inspired to bring yoga into others’ lives along with helping people unearth new talents.”

The previous record holder for the world’s oldest yoga teacher was Bernice Bates from Florida. She was given the title only last year at the age of 91 years old.

If a 93 year old lady is able to do it, anybody can. You might be wondering why someone would risk falling or getting themselves injured at that age. Well, yoga helps to keep one alive. Once you have started to practice it, you will realise all the benefits that it has to offer. Soon enough, you will be leading a healthier lifestyle. At 93, it helps to keep this lady flexible and in good shape. Furthermore, there are so many health benefits such as lowering of the blood pressure and improving on one’s breathing. Still, the most remarkable and fulfilling thing is that she is still able to pass down her knowledge of yoga to the younger generation till this very date. That is something really unselfish and inspiring, especially towards her students.
